Information

Battery & range

This Nissan Leaf has a 24 kWh battery, with all 12 state of health bars showing on the dashboard.

The range on a single charge depends on a number of factors, including the temperature, how you drive, speed, use of heating and air conditioning. It has an ‘ECO’ button to help restrain those with a heavy right foot! If you work on about 70 miles in the winter and about 90 in the summer, you’ll be along the right lines.

Charging

There are 2 charging ports on the Leaf. The rapid CHAdeMO (as found at motorway services, Lidl car parks etc), with which you can charge up to 80 % in about 30 minutes. The other port is known as type 1 and this is for use with home chargers or standard/slow chargers found in lots of public car parks etc. Many of these have a type 2 socket and this car comes with a type 2 to type 1 charging cable.

The standard/slow charger that plugs into 13A domestic plug sockets is also included. This lives in its original carry case in the boot.

Servicing

This Leaf has had 3 services in its life: 2 by Nissan and the most recent service by me (Andrew) using Nissan parts. For the record I’m an IMI level 4 qualified electric & hybrid vehicle mechanic.

The most recent service also included a full brake service, which is particularly important on electric vehicles as the brakes don’t do as much work as on ICE cars due to regenerative braking. You may have seen lots of posts on owner’s groups about EVs needing new discs and pads after not many miles.

The service intervals are 12 months / 18,000 miles.

MOT & Registration

The MOT expires at the end of September 2020. There were no advisories.

Tax

There is no road tax to pay, but you still have to ‘tax’ the vehicle with the DVLA every year. Ask me to explain if this doesn’t make sense!

Owners

There are 2 previous owners recorded with the DVLA. However there has only really been one: it was pre-registered by the Nissan dealership, then sold to the first ‘proper’ owner with 10 miles on the clock. I have copies of invoices to confirm this.

Keys & books

Comes with 2 remote keys and all original owner’s manuals & service record.

Tyres

Tyre choice is important on electric vehicles, since the tyres’ rolling resistance can affect the range. This Leaf has a matching set of Michelin Energy tyres, which are generally regarded as one of the better choices for low rolling resistance.
