Why you need to do this
In Japan distance and speed are measured in kilometers, so the odometer and speedometer on your imported car will be in kilometers. There probably won’t be a smaller miles scale, similar to how most UK cars have a smaller km scale.
You can have the speedometer and odometer converted to miles – I’ll write a separate post about this.
How to do the calculation
I know Google and many others can do this for you, but here are the numbers needed to convert miles to kilometers and vice versa.
1 mile = 1.609 kilometers.
1 kilometer = 0.621 miles.
So to work out how many miles your imported car has on the clock, divide the odometer reading by 1.609.
I am thinking if importing a honda stepwagon , like the toyota yaris will the digital speedo convert to mph at the push of a button ?

Hi Eddie
I wish it would! Unfortunately it will need an electronic converter. There would be no point in Honda giving the Stepwagon this functionality because it is so unlikely that a Japanese owner would ever need to drive somewhere with speed limits in mph.
